Our family has run a bakery in Warth am Arlberg since 1964, and the Walch men have passed the art of baking down through the generations. Each day our crusty bread rolls vie with soft loaves and yummy sweet pastries for popularity. Our guests and locals enjoy fresh bread from the Lech bakery, which Brother Martin runs with love and skill.
The original Lech bakery can look back over 80 years of history. In 1964 grandfather Vinzenz Walch, the then master baker of Lech, opened another bakery in the up-and-coming village of Warth. In December 1965 a café was added, together with guest rooms with hot and cold running water and breakfast facilities. In 1982 son Thomas Walch joined him bringing dedication and a lot of enthusiasm.
Martin, Thomas and Irene’s eldest son, has stayed true to the family tradition and learnt the art of baking. From 2003 to 2006 he was master baker at the Warth bakery, and in 2007 he moved to the original bakery in Lech, taking over the reins from his uncle Clemens Walch in 2015. Since 2017 Martin has represented the third generation of the family to run the bakery in Lech. A lot has changed over the years, but two things have remained unaltered – the good quality of the bread and the satisfaction that baking brings.

Our bread to take away
That delicious smell, that crunchy crust, that taste… Feel free to pre-order your favourite bread for the next day of the holiday or to take back home with you. Bread orders can be made either in person at the hotel reception or by phone up to 6 pm the previous day.
